Cece Sykes, LCSW, ACSW

has over forty years of clinical experience with trauma and addiction recovery. A founding trainer with the IFS Institute, Cece has educated therapists around the world on IFS and her approach to treating addictive processes. She co-authored IFS Therapy for Addictions: Trauma-Informed, Compassion-Based Interventions for Substance Use, Eating, Gambling and More (2023) and other IFS articles and chapters. Cece originated her international Heart Lessons of the Journey retreats for therapists to openly explore their personal narratives. Cece lives with her husband in her lifelong home of Chicago, close to  family, friends and grandchildren.

IFS Demoz with Tamala Floyd

Tamala Floyd, LCSW

is a psychotherapist, author, consultant, and retreat facilitator with over 25 years of experience. She received a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California and an undergraduate degree in psychology from California State University–Long Beach. She has taught at the University of Phoenix and the University of Southern California in human services and social work.

Tamala has worked in various settings, including schools, criminal justice, hospitals, mental health agencies, and private practice. She has expertise in childhood sexual abuse, women’s sexual trauma, and domestic violence. Her work focuses on women’s trauma, mothering, and relationship issues, helping women identify and heal emotional wounds that impede their success and coaching them in achieving fulfilling life goals. Her new book, Listening When Parts Speak: A Practical Guide to Healing with Internal Family Systems Therapy and Ancestor Wisdom, focuses on healing personal and generational trauma with the support of ancestors.

Tamala has been married to her husband for over 25 years. They are digital nomads traveling internationally since June 2022. They have five adult children between them, three of whom are adopted.

Joanne H. Twombly, MSW, LICSW (Pronouns: she/her/hers) is a psychotherapist in private practice in Arlington, MA. She has over thirty years of experience working with C-PTSD and dissociative disorders, providing trainings and consultation.

She has written on EMDR and Dissociative Disorders, EMDR and Internal Family Systems, and on working with perpetrator introjects. Her commitment to helping her clients heal and to providing quality training has resulted in her becoming an EMDR Consultant and a Trauma and Recovery Humanitarian Assistance Program Facilitator, Internal Family Systems Certified, and an American Society for Clinical Hypnosis Consultant.

Jory Agate, LMHC, MDiv., MA, IFS Certified, is an Internal Family Systems therapist, trainer, and consultant with a private practice in Cambridge, MA.  Jory is committed to creating a collaborative clinical space that honors the cultural uniqueness of her clients. She specializes in treating trauma without pathologizing individuals for the creative ways they may have learned to cope.
